About Us

The mission of Uproar Theatre Company is to inspire, nurture, challenge, amaze, educate and empower local artists and audiences in order to make the greater Jackson area a more conscious and compassionate community.

Uproar Theatre Company strives to create opportunities for community participation through enriching, immersive theatrical experiences. We focus on offering the public a wide range of artistic works from unseen perspectives, along with free community education initiatives, while meeting with excellence all the demands placed on a public theatre.

We will encourage diverse ensembles and feature untold stories while functioning as an artistic “home” for growing artists. We hope to inspire (in all of us) the willingness to explore new ideas and encourage conversations around social justice.

Objectives supporting this mission statement are:
-To produce a broad range of theatrical presentations of the highest possible quality;
-To provide hands-on learning and mentorship experiences in all aspects of theatre;
-To celebrate the achievements of our volunteers;
-To provide value for our many supporters;
-To join other local theatres and communities for mutual assistance and enrichment

SPECIAL ADDENDUM: JUNE 2020:

Uproar Theatre is made up of Mississippi artists dedicated to telling stories that represent both the universality and diversity of the human experience. Embracing and amplifying voices that have historically been underrepresented is imperative, especially considering our state’s shameful history.

We would like to reiterate our commitment to inclusion. We stand in support of racial justice and in solidarity with the protests taking place across the United States and around the world.

Black voices matter.

Black theatre matters.

Black lives matter.
